Gurdaspur, 15 May 2019 - Punjab Rural and Urban Development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa today called upon the people to defeat Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo who represented the cruel face of the big corporates. He said BJP candidate from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol was the representative of these exploiters and hence symbolised anti-people economic and divisive policies. He attributed increasing pauperisation and exploitation of the people during the last five years to the policies of the Narendra Modi government while the wealth of the his corporate friends like Ambanis and Adanis multiplied many times.
Addressing a series of public meetings in Kala Afghana, Kot Majlis, Gujjarpura and Kashtiwal villages in support of Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar, he pointed out that prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas had almost doubled during the last five years despite the fall in their prices in the international market. He said these corporates had made thousands of crores from this fuel policy of the Modi government. He said this had also contributed to the input costs in the farm sector while making the common man poorer whose income has not correspondingly increased.
He maintained the Modi government had given a free hand to the cement companies leading to the recent hike in cement prices by Rs 70 to Rs 90 per cent during the last few days.
He slammed the divisive politics of Narendra Modi and his BJP that threatened unity and integrity of the country. He questioned Sukhbir Singh Badal as to why his Akali Dal was supporting this anti-minority policy.
Commenting on the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari that is rooted in the electoral policy designed by Sukhbir Singh Badal, he said this was the time to avenge that biggest crime against Sikh religion in which the Badals were complicit as manifested in the non-action by Parkash Singh Badal government at that time.
He said the people of Majha had the glorious tradition of fighting attacks on the Sikhs. The people in Bathinda and Faridkot in particular and Malwa region in general were already showing black flags to Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal and not allowing them to enter villages.
He urged the people to elect Jakhar saying he was accountable to the people of his constituency and return to them with his report card after three years. He assured them that he would not seek their votes in case he failed to perform to their satisfaction. The issue in Lok Sabha polls, he said was much bigger as at stake was the idea of India.
