Fatehgarh Sahib, May 15, 2019: To facilitate the women voters, for the first time a new initiative “ Sakhi” ( Women) polling booths will be set up in all the nine Assembly constituencies falling in Fatehgarh Sahib Loak Sabha seat. On these polling booths the entire ladies staff will be deputed for voting and ladies police officers for the security, said Parshant Kumar Goyal DC cum Returning Officer for Fatehgarh Sahib seat. He said besides this 56 model polling booths will be set up, where for the first time crèche facility will be available for small children, ramps, wheel chairs, attendants and transportation facility will be ensured for special voters.
He said that in all the nine assembly constituencies 1750 polling booths will be set up and 3500 EVMs, 1750 Control units and 1750 VVPAT machines will be put up, besides this EVMs and VVPAT machines will be kept reserve in case of emergency and approximately twelve thousand employees will be deputed for polling.
He said that GPS system will be installed in the vehicles of all the sector officers and AROs, so that a close watch is kept on the movement of their vehicles to ensure that EVMs and VVPAT machines are taken at designated place.
Earlier Shyamal Kishore Pathak IAS General observer, while addressing the Returning Officers, sector officers and other election related staff warned them to do their duty in impartial manner and to ensure that guidelines of the Election Commission of India are implemented. He said if anyone found indulging in unfair means will not be spared. He directed that if any type of problem occurs on any booth, the in charge must inform the higher officers to sort it out immediately. He said we must ensure that the election for Fatehgarh Sahib Loak Sabha seat are held in free, fair and transparent manner without any malpractices, high handedness, pressure, threat or distribution of money, drugs, liquor or goods.
SSP Amneet Kondal assured that all type of security arrangements have been put in place no one will be allowed to take law in his own hands.
