Ferozepur, May 19, 2019: SVEEP campaign is likely to improve the voting percentage this time a d visually impaired Indians have the opportunity to cast their votes secretly by reading from the Braille Ballot Sheet.
A visually impaired couple – Kashmir Lal and Krishana Devi – both retired government teachers were clicked showing the vote polled sign outside the booth No.118, Office Market Committee in Ferozepur City.
Couple was also presented with a certificate – Proud to be first PWD Voter - from the Deputy Commissioner as PwD – Person with Disability – Voter.
Talking to Babushahi.com, Kashmiri Lal said we have polled our vote by using the Braille ballot which had a left to right number, the abbreviation of the party’s name and raised dots leading to a small window were the voter makes his or her mark.
Chander Gaind, DEO-cum-DC informed that we have made special arrangements for Braille ballot slips for the convenience of the visually impaired persons, at already specified polling booths for such enrolled voters. Even Voters Guide in Braille was also available.
