Ferozepur, May 19, 2019: The Election Commission is making all out efforts by adopting various means of campaign to woo the voters to cast their vote so that there is maximum participation of voters during the Lok Sabha polls today – Mahautsav of Democracy.
In this context, Pink Polling Booths have also been set up – model and pink booths – two in each segment.
These booths have been decorated like a wedding ceremony and red carpet welcome. In the event of crowd, special comfortable sitting arrangements have been made with proper drinking water facility. The Pink Booth will exclusively run by female staff of the election. Even arrangements to honour the first voters and disabled have also been made by the SVEEP Team.
Dr.Satinder Singh coordinator SVEEP said, our aim is for maximum polling at all the booths especially at the model and pink booths. These booths have been set up at DC Model School, Ferozepur Cantt and local RSD College, Village Nur Pur Sethan known as the best village of India and at SBS Technical Campus.
Special arrangements have been made to issue certificates to the first time voters and Persons with Disability. The Selfie Point at the booth for the first time and young voter was attraction today when number of such voters were seen getting clicked at the stand fixed for the purpose.
Diwan Chand Sukhija, President, Streamline Welfare Society – a leading local NGO – talking to Babushahi.com said, the move is appreciable. Inherent power relations are present in all aspects and public spaces. In a patriarchal society in India, men still hold the positions of authority and sometime women feel it difficult to approach them. Women still feel safer in a space where there are more women and find it easier to clarify doubts. Women will feel more comfortable if there are female staff at the booths.
