Moscow to host 2019 Hyndai Archery World Cup Final
LAUSANNE (SWITZERLAND), MAY 21, 2019: It will be the first international archery event to take place in Russia since the 1980 Olympic Games.
This year’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final will take place on 6-7 September in Red Square in the centre of Moscow, it has been announced, reports World Archery.
The Russian capital joins Medellin, Shanghai, Antalya and Berlin as host cities on held in archery arenas built under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, in the Stadio dei Marmi in Rome, and the Zocalo central square in Mexico City.
Archery’s international circuit was launched in 2006 and is into its 14th season in 2019. Last year’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final was held in Samsun, Turkey.
A major archery event has not been held in Russia since the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games. Russian athletes, however, have consistently found success on the world stage.
Ksenia Perova is the reigning World Archery Champion – and the Russian recurve women’s team finished with a silver medal at the last Olympics.
The Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit consists of four stages and a final in 2019.
Stage 1: Medellin, Colombia -- April 22-28. Stage 2: Shanghai China-- May 6 to 12. Stage 3: Antalya Turkey-- May 20 to 26. Stage 4: Berlin, Germany July 1-7. Final: Moscow, Russia --September 6 and 7.
