6th Class Child Abuse Case: DC orders cancellation of private school’s affiliation
Ferozepur, 22 May, 2019: Taking stern action against the private school blamed of torturing an eleven years old girl, a student of 6th class, the deputy commissioner Chander Gaind has directed the district education officer to revoke the affiliation of the school granted by Punjab School Education Board and report this matter to the education department.
Acting swiftly on DC's direction the district education officer Nek Singh has initiated an action of canceling the registration of the school with the education department.
After coming to know this case through social media, Gaind asked the district education officer Nek Singh to immediately conduct an inquiry in this matter. Thereafter the victim of the torture, who was a student of the sixth class appeared before the deputy commissioner along with her parents on Wednesday and explained the details of physical torture brought over her.
Having been appraised the whole matter; the deputy commissioner summoned the officials of the school management committee in order to conduct an elaborated inquiry into the matter. After listening to the management's views, Gaind then called an urgent meeting with the officials of the education department. The deputy commissioner after holding a detailed discussion on the matter directed the department to initiate strict action against the school by revoking its affiliation with the department.
The deputy commissioner said that the student herself appeared before him and narrated the whole incident. After having a discussion over the matter the officials reached the conclusion that the school management was at fault in this case and injustice had been done to the girl as she was beaten up by school coordinator who was daughter-in-law of the school owner. The victim stated that she was made to stand in the scorching sun with her hands up for over a three periods of time, the deputy commissioner added. This humiliation can never be tolerated at any cost and attracts the punitive action, he remarked. He also directed the SMO civil hospital, Ferozepur to ensure proper treatment of the girl.
The district education officer Nek Singh said that his office has initiated the action of revoking the affiliation of the school and a detailed report will also be sent to the higher authorities.
Following the deputy commissioner's order, the DEO senior secondary has sent a report to DEO elementary with a direction to cancel the affiliation of the school. He said that the victim student is being shifted from the private school to a government school, where she can resume her studies.
