New Delhi, May 22, 2019 (UNI) In the past 18 months, more than 9 lakh in-service untrained teachers have cleared the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) teachers training exam.
"A total of 12,11,740 teachers registered for Diploma in Elementary Education exam for in-service untrained teachers. Of which 9,58,513 passed the exam meant to improve quality of teachers in the schools. Pass percentage stands at 79.97 pc," said National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Chairman C B Sharma at a press conference here on Wednesday.
NIOS, an autonomous institution under HRD Ministry, is the nodal agency for conducting D.El.Ed exam.
More than 4 lakh male teachers passed the exam while the fairer sex figure stands above 5 lakh.
A total of 24 Transgender cleared the exam.
