Chandigarh, May 23, 2019: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday held Congress star campaigner and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu responsible for the defeat of the party candidates from Gurdaspur and Bhatinda Lok Sabha seats.
Commenting on the Lok Sabha polls results at a press conference at his official residence here a short while ago, the CM said the untimely and uncalled for comments by Sidhu during election campaigning affected the outcome of the results in both constituencies.
Sidhu had addressed election meeting in both constituencies and also participated in road shows.
Replying to a question, Amarinder said that below par performance of Local Bodies Department under Sidhu could also have contributed to voters dissatisfaction with the party.
It may be mentioned that a war of words has been going on between both leaders since Congress came to power in the state in 2017.
Sidhu's comments targetting Amarinder were too direct to be missed.
Amarinder said the defeat of Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur seat was unfortunate.
