Chandigarh, June 12, 2019: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD-Badal) of misleading the Sikh ‘sangat’ living in the country and various other parts of the world on the missing of rare of the rarest documents, some of them having immense religious value, from the Sikh Reference Library, which were reportedly seized by the Indian Army during the Operation Blue Star (1984) just to distract their attention from the raging charges of having sold them at a price under their (Badals) watch.
In a joint statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Wednesday, senior leaders of the party, including Prof Baljinder Kaur, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Jai Kishan Rori, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori (All MLAs), said that the freak demand raised by the SAD Chief to union home minister Amit Shah for the restoration of the missing record, which included certain rare ‘Birs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was a mere drama, stating that both the SAD and BJP had been alliance partners and were in power for more than a decade since 1984.
The AAP leaders said that had he (Sukhbir Singh Badal) been sincere to the cause of the ‘Panth’ and the rare Sikh relics, the missing documents would have been brought back long ago since they were partners in power with the BJP for decades.
The AAP leaders took Sukhbir Badal upfront asking him to spill the beans about the missing historic documents, which had been reportedly handed down to the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) by the Indian Army in a phased manner, as per the records available, but were allegedly missing from the reference library since then. They questined the Badals as to why were they running away from a high-level probe into the missing documents amid serious allegations of having sold the documents valued at crores of rupees leveled against them by none other than their own party’s senior leaders.
The AAP leaders demanded a high-level CBI probe under the watch of Punjab and Haryana High Court into the missing Sikh relics/documents alleged to have been sold out by SGPC’s corrupt officials in connivance with the Badals. They also demanded that the Union Govt. should issue a white paper on the entire episode.
