Chandigarh, August 16: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) would contest the upcoming Haryana assembly elections in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and negotiations for seat sharing are on at present, said SAD core committee member and in charge Haryana Balwinder Singh Bhunder.
Talking to media after a meeting of the SAD Haryana unit, convened to take stock of the recruitment derive in the state, Bhunder said the members were briefed about the developments on the negotiations with the BJP. Also, the party leadership took a feedback from the senior Haryana SAD Leaders on the prospects of party leaders.
Bhunder expressed satisfaction at the recruitment derive. He urged the party leaders to maximize the party membership as the last day of recruitment is approaching fast.
Bhunder said a huge congregation in connection with 550 birth day celebrations of Guru Nanak Devji will gather at Kurukshetra on September 7, a place visited by eight gurus.
He exhorted the SAD workers to mobilize people to join the congregation through door to door campaigning and by spreading the message of gurus to all the towns and villages of Haryana.
Prominent amongst those who participated in the meeting were national vice president of SAD Baldev Singh Kayampuri, president of the Haryana unit Sharanjit Singh Sotha and its general secretary Sukhbir S. Maandi, SAD legislator Balkor Singh, SGPC vice president Raghbir Singh Virk and former SGPC member Bibi Kartar Kaur.
