DC, MLA, SSP join rescue operation in boat to save stranded people in flood
Nihalewala (Ferozepur), August 20, 2019: A vigilant civil and Police administration today carried out massive rescue operations for saving the stranded people in flood, that took place due to overflowing of river Satluj, affected areas of village Nihalewala of Ferozepur sub division.
As soon as flood like situation came up in the village, the administration led by MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind and Senior Superintendent of Police Vivek S. Soni rushed to the spot with companies of NDRF and Army.
Subsequently a massive operation was launched to protect the lives of people who were stranded in the flood water.
The Deputy Commissioner supervised the entire operations right from strategy to save the people by procuring the desired logistics required from the various quarters, then the MLA, Deputy commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police went into the deep water firstly on a motorboat to save the stranded people in village Nihalewala.
The Joint operation was launched with top priority of saving the life of people and to ensure that there was no loss of life. The state Police and officers of Drainage and irrigation departments ensured that all sort of help was provided to the NDRF and Army authorities for carrying out rescue operations. Likewise, efforts were also made to make sure that the evacuated were sent to relief camps where they were provided food, treatment and other facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police remained on toes throughout the rescue operation.
The entire rescue operation was led by 7th NDRF, Bathinda Inspector Anil Yadav, sub Inspector Bihari Lal and the company rescued a large number of people from the flood hit village.
Deputy Commissioner said, the advanced mobilization of Army personals has proved to be helpful in the flood hit villages of Ferozepur district as 283 civilians has been rescued by in last 24 hours by the Ferozepur based Army division in four distinct places.
Action swiftly on the information of heavy downstream discharge in the River Satluj, deputy commissioner Ferozepur has mobilized the Army strength by making requisition to local Army division, which deployed its 8 officers, 11 JCO’s and 270 other ranks to help the flood affected people through carrying out rescue operations, providing medical assistance and other relief material.
All three column of local Army Division has rescued 283 people besides providing them medical assistance. All officers went into the deep water in search of stranded people and brought them to the safe places through motorboats and other means. Another column of 71 officers is on standby mode at Mallanwala town. The deputy commissioner has sought this help from Ferozepur Army Division to combat floods, which became helpful in saving many precious lives.
The deputy commissioner ensured that the entire government machinery was streamlined to help the people in this hour of need.
The streamline coordination between the civil and police administration ensured that the worries of people affected by floods were minimized.
Gaind asserted that the district administration will leave no stone unturned to help the people in this hour of crisis.
