More than 475 people evacuated in rescue operation in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 23, 2019: In the recent floods, more than 475 people have been evacuated during the rescue operation in the villages adjacent to Sutlej river in Makhu and Hussainiwala in Ferozepur and were provided medical aid, food and medicines.
Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind informed that with the rising water level in Sutlej, the district administration as a precautionary measure had deployed three columns of the local army division and the team of NDRF so that the rescue operation could start as soon as the flood situation arises.
Because of advance arrangements, we could evacuate 250 people in the first 24 hours more than 250 people. So far more than 475 people have been evacuated during the entire operation from the flood affected areas to the nearby relief camps where the initial treatment was provided to them, he added.
Doctor’s team were provided in 20 relief camps set up in the district besides are the basic required things of day today use, said DC.
Gaind said, the medical and engineering division of the local army has also been deployed in the flood affected villages along the Hussainiwala and Makhu areas affected by floods where relief operations have been carried out with full vigour.
He said, the situation is becoming normal rapidly in the villages touching Sutlej river and most of the people have been evacuated.
