Railway celebrates ambitious cleanliness fortnight Swachhta Pakhwada from September 11
Ferozepur, September 11, 2019: The Railway is celebrating ‘Swachhta Pakhwada ‘Cleanliness Fortnight’ from September 11 to October 2, under directions of Indian Railway Board, with special focus on cleanliness at all the stations and in trains throughout the ‘Pakhwada’.
On this occasion, a pledge was also administered by Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division, to the officers, employees and passengers saying – Mahatama Gandhi had seen a dream of Swachh Bharat and under this concept, the Indian Railway is celebrating Swachhta Pakhwada and all people will donate 100 hours every year in this project. He said, the Cleanliness Fortnight is being celebrated since 2014.
Aggarwal said, I will be personally visiting the main stations along with the officers and supervisors and have interaction with the officers to get best results out of this campaign.
DRM also appealed to the prominent persons and various social outfits to cooperate in this cleanliness campaign to keep the stations near and clean and common people are also invited in this campaign. During this fortnight, an awareness campaign will also be started through public address system, poster, banner and publicity books besides arranging ‘nukkad’ plays at the main railway stations. An audio announcement in Hindi and Punjabi language will also be aired to create awareness among the passengers.
He also appealed to the passengers do not litter the garbage in the station premises and platforms and maintain cleanliness in the train coaches and use the dustbins. The passengers should not throw any substance while using the bio-toilets. He also appealed to cooperate to make the plast-free country.
All the officers of divisional rail office also participated in the Swachhta campaign.
