The department of health will establish 10-bedded makeshift hospital in the tent city set up for pilgrims of Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib at Dera Baba Nanak on the occasion 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The Chairman, Punjab Health Systems Corporation Mr Amardeep Singh Cheema has visited the site of makeshift hospital and reviewed the arrangements being done by the officials.
Mr cheema said "The Punjab government is committed to provide best medical assistance to the pilgrims of Sri Kartarpur Sahib and department of health will depute medical specialists along with paramedical staff on the site". "Pilgrims will get medical help in case of any health related emergency", added he.
Chairman Mr Cheema said "The department has appointed Senior Medical Officer, Kalanaur Dr Lakhwinder Singh Athwal as nodal officer, health services at Dera Baba Nanak and Civil Surgeon Gurdaspur Dr Kishan Chand is supervising the arrangements on the site".
He stated that "Medical specialists and paramedical staff will provide their services round the clock in the premises of tent city and duties have been assigned to them". "The department will provide free medicines even conduct laboratory tests in the health block of tent city", said Mr Cheema
Further Mr cheema informed that "They will also establish a minor operation theatre in the makeshift hospital so that pilgrims will get best medical assistance without any delay". He told that "Apart from Community Health Center, Dera Baba Nanak, the medical aid will be available at nearest Government Hospital Kalanaur for pilgrims".
He said "The department will also station over 25 ambulances near the tent city as well as in different areas of Dera Baba Nanak". Mr Cheema asserted that "They will also establish a medical post in the Integrated Check Post (ICP) for pilgrims".
He said "The department will also set up 4 polio vaccination counters at check posts and it will be mandatory for every pilgrim to take the polio drops irrespective of age before immigration check".
