Liquor And Meat Shops To Remain Close On November 4

Jalandhar, November 3,2019 : In view of the International Nagar Kirtan organized to mark the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, District Magistrate Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered that all meat and liquor shops falling on its route will remain closed today (November 4).
Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC), 1973 and section 54 of Punjab Excise Act, District Magistrate has ordered that all the liquor and meat shops on the route of will remain shut.
He said that the decision has been taken on the account of the religious importance of the International Nagar Kirtan.
He added that opening of the meat and liquor shops on the route could create major law and order problem by hurting the sentiments of the people.
The International Nagar Kirtan would start from Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Industrial Area today (November 4) at 8 am and would pass through Sodal Chowk, JMP Chowk, Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha Preet Nagar, Doaba Chowk, Kishanpura Chowk, Adda Hoshiarpur Chowk, Adda Tanda Chowk, Mai Hiran Gate, Patel Chowk, Jail Chowk, Basti Adda Chowk, Jyoti Chowk, Nakodar Chowk, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Milk Bar Chowk, Masand Chowk, Model Town Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Dairy Chowk, Gurdwara Nauvi Patshahi GTB Nagar, Manbro Chowk, Guru Ravidass Chowk, Model House Chowk, Veer Babrik Chowk, Jhandiawala Peer Chowk, Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha Adarsh Nagar, JP Nagar, Harbans Nagar, Dilbagh Nagar Extension Chowk, Mithu Basti Chowk, Canal Bridge Basti Bawa Khel, Wariyana and then would move to Kapurthala.
