Chairman, BSMF to fight for students in sedition case in Pak
Ferozepur, December 6, 2019: Today, Imtiaz Rasheed Quershi – advocate by profession - Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation (BSMF) Pakistan hold protest rally at Democratic Lawn Lahore High Court demanding withdrawal of the case against students under charges of sedition and public nuisance and offered to fight for students.
Innocent students were booked in an FIR under the section 290 (Public nuisance), 291 (Continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue) and 124 A (sedutuib) of the Pakistan penal code.
Imtiaz Rasheed Quershi Chairman Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation condemned this unlawful incident of the Pakistani government and said, “Many democratic of the world countries have provided safeguard to their students for their fundamental rights of speech and association but why Pakistan government is trying to suppress the students voices and trying to deprive them of their constitution rights”.
He further announced to extend free legal aid to all the students against whom the FIR has been lodged for their encouragement and support. Raising a voice for restoration of student unions in colleges and universities in Pakistan is not an illegal act.
He also appealed the Pakistan government to look deeply into this matter as such types of incidents are very much detrimental for the careers of the students of Pakistan and also create the sense of discouragement among the students activists.
