HANDING OVER THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WORTH RS 4.16 LAKH TO THE VETERANS AND THE WAR WIDOWS
Jalandhar, December 10,2018: Recalling the stellar role of Armed forces in preserving the unity, integrity and the sovereignty of the country, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today handed over cheques of financial assistance worth Rs 4.16 lakh to the war widows, ex-servicemen and their families.
Handing over the financial assistance to the veterans and the war widows, as a part of Armed Forces Celebration, here at his office in the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that this financial assistance was a humble tribute from the district administration for the marvelous service rendered by these heroes for the country. He said that it was our bounden duty to felicitate the ex-servicemen as gratitude towards their outstanding services to defend the security and sovereignty of the country. Sharma said that this assistance was given from the Flag Day contribution made by the people.
The Deputy Commissioner further called upon the people to contribute voluntarily and generously towards the Flag Day fund. He said that this fund was utilized for the noble cause of the rehabilitation of war widows, disabled defence personnel and ex-servicemen. Sharma further said that every contribution made by us was a token of respect towards the outstanding services rendered by our valiant soldiers who zealously guarded our borders around the clock.
Lauding the stellar role of the Indian Armed Forces, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was a matter of great pride for all the countrymen that Indian Armed Forces were always on the forefront for defending the unity and sovereignty of the country besides guarding its borders while performing their duty. He said that countrymen enjoy the fruits of independence because of these brave hearts, who were constantly safeguarding borders while performing their duty. Sharma called upon the people to salute the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice and courage.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, District Defence Services Welfare Officer Major (Retd.) Yashpal Singh and others were also present.
