Chandigarh, December 12, 2019: A young entrepreneur from Chandigarh has made it to the coveted Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list of achievers for his out of the box ideas for utilisation of solar energy to power households.
Simarpreet Singh (29) founded Hartek Solar Pvt Ltd in 2017 to offer customised rooftop solar kits for residences in order to provide planet-friendly clean energy.
The solar kits are built in such a way that even a lay man can operate it and is virtually maintenance free.
With a team of 30, the company has installed around 300 kits in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh since inception.
Simerpreet always wanted to do his own thing and after getting MBA degree from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai and completing an Executive Education Programme in Finance from London School of Business, the easy way would have been to join the Hartek Group, which was set up by his father Hartek Singh.
But Simperpreet took the plunge into the upcoming field of solar energy in 2017. The initial year was spent on researching how solar energy can be used to power residences.
In May, 2018, HArtek Solar came out with customised roof top modular solar kits.
What makes Hartek solar kits unique is that they are compact, easy to install and customisable to fit different types and sizes of rooftops. The price of the solar kits range between Rs 35,000 to Rs 55,000.
Solar energy is clean, reliable, and a renewable. It does not pollute the environment and at the moment, India has installed capacity of solar power is 31.696 GW, the fifth highest in the world.
