Chandigarh, 14th January 2020: Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) in collaboration with Social Welfare Department and State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh celebrated Maghi (Makar Sankranti) and Lohri Festival with the children of Ashiana (Home for Girls), Sector 15, Chandigarh on 14.01.2020 with lot of exuberance and fanfare.
Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights installed a machine of Vending Machine and Disposal machine for the comfortable delivery of Sanitary pads in Ashiana, Sector 15, Chandigarh.
On this occasion Sh. Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, Dr. Monica M Singh & Ms. Pooja Punchhi, Member CCPCR and Sh. V.K Kapoor, Retd. DGP were present. Sweets were distributed among the children. Lohri Songs were sung, dances and Skit were performed by the children of Ashiana.
On this occasion, Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, motivated the children about healthy and truthful living. After the distribution of gifts Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR inaugurated the ceremony of Lohri. Girls of Ashiana were offered groundnuts, rewri and gachak to the god of fire and enjoyed the festival by singing and dancing on the songs in praise of "Dulha Bhatti".
On this occasion Sh. Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, Sh. Kartar Singh. Law Officer, Sh. Arvind Dhawan, Sr. Assistant, Ms. Neha Kausal, Clerk and Sh. Mahesh Kumar and Office staff of Ashiana were also present and Children thanked the guests with certain actions gestures which were appreciated by one and all and also committed to work hard to achieve success in life.
