Vajra Corps conducts Tri-Services Veterans’ event
Jalandhar, January 14, 2020: A Tri-Services Veteran event was organized by Vajra Corps at Jalandhar today on the occasion of ‘Armed Forces Veterans’ Day’. This day is observed every year on 14th Jan to recognize and acknowledge the monumental contribution of the veterans to the nation and the organization.
A wreath-laying ceremony was organized at Vajra Shaurya Sthal wherein Lieutenant General Sanjeev Sharma, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps and the senior-most veterans of the three services paid tribute to the martyrs.
The Corps Commander while acknowledging the selfless devotion to duty and sacrifices made by the veterans said that “Veterans are an extremely important part of the Armed Forces family. All measures will be taken by Vajra Corps to ensure that their needs and aspirations are met”. The Veterans appreciated the conduct of the event and conveyed their gratitude to the Vajra Corps and all other agencies for efforts being made to address their problems.
Numerous stalls were established by the Vajra Veteran Sahayata Kendra, Ex Servicemen Contribution Health Scheme (ECHS), Army Welfare Placement Node (AWPN), Zila Sainik Board (ZSB), Defence Pension Disbursement Office (DPDO) and the nationalised banks to resolve pending issues of the veterans. These stalls provided information about pension entitlement, welfare schemes, post-retirement job assistance, medical facilities and documentation related to the veterans. Major General Balwinder Singh, Chief of Staff Vajra Corps, General Officer Commanding Jalandhar Sub Area and a large number of Armed Forces Veterans from the three services and serving personnel of the station attended the event.
