Barnala, January 26, 2020 - The 71st Republic Day celebrated at the Baba Kala Maher Stadium here today. On this occasion Mr. Sundar Sham Arora, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Punjab unfurled the National Flag. On this occasion Kewal Singh Dhillon, Vice President, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee was also present.
While addressing the District Residents, Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora said that it is a matter of great proud that our nation is the largest democracy in the world. He said that today's day also reminds us of our freedom fighters' dreams about the future of India and it gives us opportunity to take a look at our overall performance.
Mr. Arora said that the Punjab Government has started a new era of overall development of state. He said that a project of Rs 271 crore has been on the cards to develop the Sultanpur Lodhi as a heritage city dedicated to Guru Nanak Sahib's 550th Prakash Prabh.
Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora said that an investment of over Rs 55,000 crore has been made in the state, which will boost the progress of state. He said that under the Aashirwad Scheme in the state, financial help of Rs 302 crore had been provided to the beneficiaries. He further said that Government in providing cashless Health Insurance Scheme to 2.2 crore population of state. 76 lakh saplings have been planted so far in Punjab and after April 2017, the green cover of the state has increased by one thousand 363 hectares. On this occasion students of different educational institutes have been performed.
At the same time, 15 departments showcased their schemes, while a total of 30 persons from the families of freedom fighters were honored on the occasion. sewing machines were also distributed. Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Sundar Sham Arora has declared a holiday on Monday, January 27 in the educational institutions of the district, those have participated in the Republic Day Ceremony.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, District and Sessions Judge Virender Agarwal, SSP. Harjit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Madam Ruhi Dug, Chairman, Improvement Trust Makhan Sharma and other were also present.
