Washington DC, January 27, 2020: Members of the Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha (SGRDS) of New York strongly protested against the attempted burning of the Indian Constitution by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), according to India America Today.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, Legal Advisor of SFJ, in a video, which has since gone vial, announced that SFJ activists would burn the Indian tricolour and Constitution on India’s Republic Day on January 26 in front Indian embassies and high commissions in every part of the world.
Ashok Mahi, President, Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, advised SFJ not to do so as it would hurt the feelings of the Dalit community as the chief architect of the Constitution was Dr. BR Ambedkar, who was a Dalit.
Howerve, SFJ didn’t heed the advice and went ahead with attempted burning of the Constitution.
To show their resentment, members of SGRDS burned the effigies of Pannu.
