Jalandhar, March 25, 2020: The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal on Wednesday directed the SDMs and DSPs to evolve the entire system of delivering essential commodities to the people at the doorsteps.
Presiding over a meeting in district administrative complex, they asked them to ensure the vehicles carrying vegetables, fruits, medicines, grocery items, fodder, poultry and others must remain unaffected.
They told them to hold a meeting with the municipal councilors, sarpanches, Lambardars, patwaris and set up unit wise teams in each ward which they will contact with the all Rehriwalas who will get passes for home delivery.
They authorized the District Food, Civil and Supplies Controller Narinder Singh and Zonal Licensing Authority Drugs Lakhwant Singh and District Mandi Officer Davinder Singh to issue the passes to the grocery traders, chemists and vegetable vendors for supplying the essential commodities house to house.
They told them to take the help of Gurdwaras, Temples and others for public announcements to ensure the people do not come outside and the teams will deliver the things to them.
They also appealed the milkmen in the villages to deliver the milk house to house without any problem and they don’t need to fear being stopped by the teams.
On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, SDMs Rahul Sindhu, Dr Jai Inder Singh, SP RPS Sandhu and others were present.
