Chandigarh , March 27, 2020 : 22 year young man who was tested positive in Chandigarh on Friday has a travel history to Dubai. 57 of his contacts have been traced and put under home quarantine so far.
A spokesperson of the UT administration said that the 22 year old male residing in sector 30, Chandigarh with history of travel to Dubai has been diagnosed as eighth COVID-19 positive case on 27th March, 2020 as per report received from PGIMER this evening.
He was admitted in GMCH 32 in second half of 25-03-2020. Health Department received the information from GMCH 32 on 26th March, 2020. Field activities were initiated immediately for contact tracing. 57 of his contacts have been traced and put under home quarantine. This number includes both primary and secondary contacts. Secondary contacts are family members of primary contacts.
Out of these 07 are close contacts and 01 is a direct high risk contact i.e., his mother. His father lives in Dubai and brother in Canada.
Currently he is in isolation ward at GMCH 32. He is totally asymptomatic and fully stable.
Latest status update on samples taken and results of testing:
- A 52 year Female resident of Chandigarh admitted at Command Hospital, Chandimandir, Panchkula (Haryana). He has tested negative for nCoV.
- A 54 Year Male resident of Chandigarh admitted at Fortis Hospital, Mohali (Punjab). He has tested negative for nCoV.
- A 38 year Female resident of Chandigarh admitted at CD Ward of PGIMER. She is negative for nCoV.
- A 22 year Male resident of Chandigarh with travel history to Dubai has been admitted at GMCH-32. He is positive for nCoV.
- A 58 year Male resident of Chandigarh admitted at Max Hospital, Mohali. He is negative for nCoV.
- A 56 year old resident of Chandigarh sampled at CDH Kharar, Punjab. He is negative for nCoV.
- A 35 year Male resident of Chandigarh sampled at Max Hospital, Mohali. His repeat sample report is awaited.
- A 3 months male resident of Kurukshetra District (Haryana) admitted at GMCH-32. He is negative for nCoV.
