60 goods specials dispatched to other states from Ferozepur Division
Railways continue to ensure availability of essential commodities throughout the country
Ferozepur, March 30, 2020: During the last one week from 22 to 29th March, 2020, . 60 goods trains of foodgrain, rice and other material were dispatched to other deficit states. On 28th March, a special train of Nestle Company was dispatched from Moga to Changsari in Assam. Again, on March 30, around 11 good trains of rice and foodgrain will move to other states, said DRM.
In the wake of nation-wide complete lock down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Indian Railways continued making all efforts to ensure availability of essential commodities through its freight services. During the situation of lockdown in all the States, Indian Railways staff deployed at various good sheds, stations and control offices continued working on 24/7 basis to ensure that the supply of essential items for the nation does not get affected. Special efforts are being made by Indian Railways to ferry these goods to maintain the supply chain in the lock down period.
Rajesh Aggarwal, DRM Ferozepur divulging with the details said, “Due to cancellation of passenger trains permanently till April 14, the good trains are on the tracks in its full speed to dispatch the essential commodities to other states adding that the required commodities like diesel, petrol and other materials including the containers are coming in Ferozepur Division.
He however, appealed to the people not to move on the rail tracks, it is dangerous and legally crime and good trains are running regularly.
He added, the entire railway staff are working 24x7 under unprecedented situation but with unprecedented measures. Most the railway employees are working from him. However, he has instructed to come out of the house only in emergent circumstances and honour the words of Prime Minister Narendera Modi, in the wake of lock down due to pandemic coronavirus in the country.
