Due to non-availability of drugs, addict commits suicide

Fatehgarh Sahib, April 3, 2020: A drug addict Avtar Singh (30) resident of Mandi Gobindgarh town committed suicide by jumping in Bhakra Canal near floating restaurant, Sirhind. His body was recovered today from Khanauri town in Patiala district.
Hardeep Singh, brother of the deceased told that Avtar Singh was a truck driver and an addict. Since imposition of the curfew, he was very much upset as drugs were not available from any quarter. On March 28 evening, he left home and in the night, they got the message whose sender informed them that this phone number was retrieved from the pocket of clothes lying on the bank of Bhakhra canal.
On being informed, they rushed to the canal and identified his clothes. He said they started searching his dead body and today they got a call from divers that his dead body has been recovered. The police took the dead body to civil hospital for post-mortem and handed it to the family.
Similarly. many other drug addicts are upset as the supply chain of drugs has een totally wiped out in rural and urban areas, said a police officer.
