8.44 lac MTs expected procurement in 133 procurement centres of Ferozepur
Amid corona crisis, farmers to maintain social distancing during procurement operations in mandis
Ferozepur, April 4, 2020: While reviewing the wheat procurement arrangements in the district with the various agencies, amid the curfew and coronavirus threat, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Kulwant Singh said, no farmer will face any problem right from the harvesting to the marketing of his crop.
Divulging with the details, DC said, the expected procurement of wheat this time is 8.40 lac MTs in 133 procurement centres and the government has fixed the minimum support price as Rs.1925 per qtl. He advised the District Mandi Officer and other procuring agencies to ensure the procurement of each grain of the farmers.
DC said, in the wake of the threat of coronavirus, this time, the farmers should be conscious about maintaining the social distancing in the mandis during the marketing and keeping this factor in view, all the officers have been advised to chalk-out a plan. The district administration is also planning a schedule of procurement in the mandis.
The Punjab government is committed for procurement of each grain of the farmers and meanwhile, all arrangements have been made in advance, adding that keeping in view the coronavirus threat for hassle-free operations, all measures for the benefit of all particularly the farmers’ community, in the mandi yards will also be made as per the guidelines of the government.
