Ludhiana, April 06, 2020: Canada-based NRI Harvinder Singh Sran (Harvey Sran) on Monday donated Rs 11.08 lakh to the District Red Cross Society, Ludhiana as his contribution to fight the battle against deadly Coronavirus.
The donation cheque was handed on behalf of Harvey Sran to Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal at his office by Raju William, Sran's friend and Associate Editor, babushahi.com
Speaking to the Deputy Commissioner over phone, Mr Harvey Saran appreciated the Punjab government and the District Administration for their efforts in fighting to COVID-19. "I wish I could have done more," Sran told the DC.
Sran contributed Rs 10 Lakh in personal capacity, whereas the staff of Harvest International School and Harvest Tennis Academy being run by him and his brother donated Rs 72,000 and Rs 36,000 respectively.
Harvey Sran is known for setting up a Tennis Academy of international standard at his ancestral village Jassowal Kular near Mullanpur Dakha in Ludhiana district. Later on, the family also set up Harvest International School affiliated to Cambridge Examinations UK. It goes to the credit of the Sran family that its vetnures have generated employment for about 200 people of the village and surrounding area.
The Deputy Commissioner thanked Mr Harvey Saran for his support to the District Red Cross Society and for the larger public cause.

Agrawal said that in this hour of need, supply of cooked food and dry ration is being supplied to people who are basically daily wage labourers. This huge task is being carried out with the support of several individuals and NGOs.
He appealed philanthropists to come forward to donate to mitigate the people's plight collectively through the relief work being done by the District Red Cross Society.
