Cultural troupes from Latin America, African countries may perform for first time

Martyrs’ kin to be honoured at Kullu Dussehra festival starting on September 30
Kullu, August 18, 2017: This year the international Kullu Dussehra festival will be organised from September 30 to October 6 where for the first time families of the army martyrs will be honoured.
This was decided during the meeting of the organizing committee presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Kullu Yunus Khan here on Thursday.
Khan told babushahi.com that two martyrs’ families from each district of Himachal Pradesh would be honoured during the festival “We have also decided to get the state government nod for inviting two or more such families from adjoining states including Punjab, J&K, Haryana and UIttarakhand for the purpose,” he added.
The organizing committee has also decided to invite this time cultural troupes from Latin America, Africa and USA to perform. Such troupes from Russia have already been performing at this famous international Dussehra festival.
The process of setting up sub-committees to draw up plans to organize various activities during the festival has been put in motion and the plans chalked out by these will be reviewed in the next meeting.

The festival spread over week-long festivities has traditionally been a big attraction for the tourists from within the country and abroad.
To ensure participation of cultural troupes, the organizing committee has initiated communication with Indian Coulcil of Cultural Relations, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala and offices of the Chief Ministers of all the states. The local troupes will also showcase culture of Himachal Pradesh.
All the programme venues will be under CCTV surveillance to ensure security. Extra CCTV camera would be installed at all the important points, informed Kullu SP Shalini Agnihotri.
