INDIANAPOLIS, OCT 22
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is all poised to lead an economic development trade mission to India next week. The delegation will visit New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Pune and hold talks with the government officials and prospective businesses that may be interested in establishing a presence in Indiana (USA).
The delegation is scheduled to tour the Indian cities from October 27 and return on November 3. Mr Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger will also hold discussions with the Infosys executives and executives with Indiana-based companies with operations in India, namely Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI).
The India-based outsourcing giant Infosy has earlier announced to establish its offices in Indianapolis to create up to 2,000 jobs by 2021. The state's colleges and universities also have ties to India with over 3,600 Indian students studying at Indiana University and Purdue University alone in 2016.
This will be the first time in the history of Indiana that a sitting Governor will make an official trip to India.
Mr Raju Chinthala, Founder and President of Indiana India Business Council said " It is an historic accomplishment and one that we all Indian-Hoosiers should be proud of. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to join Governor Holcomb in this historic mission. And I am hoping that this mission will help further strength the economic ties between Indiana and India and pave way for many more economic collaborative partnerships. "
Mr Raju Chinthala described the Indiana delegation's tour to the Indian cities, including the National Capital New Delhi, 'as a special Diwali gift for for all of us Indian-Hoosiers."
The Indiana delegation to India will also include IU School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering Dean Raj Acharya, Indiana India Business Council President Raju Chinthala, TechPoint Chief Executive Officer Mike Langellier and Roger Reeves, Director of strategic accounts at Genesys. Indiana’s First Lady Janet Holcomb will also part of the Indiana delegation to India.
