Lahore, May 20, 2018: Manmeet Kaur (24) of Peshawar has created history by becoming the first Sikh woman reporter hired by a newly launched private television channel.
As reported by Daily Pakistan, Manmeet Kaur, joined Hum News on Saturday. She has done masters in social sciences from Peshawar University. She has four siblings.
Peshawar has the major concentration of the Sikh population in Pakistan.
She will be reporting on human rights, minorities, local communities and non-governmental organizations, said the news report.
“In our country (Pakistan), most of the Sikh girls prefer to sit at homes after completing their formal education,” Kaur was quoted as saying.
She also highlighted that ion her country, “talented people are always treated with honour whether he or she belongs to any religion caste and creed”.
