MP Dhesi reiterates demand to set up Sikh War Memorial as UK Parliament debates over role of War Heroes
London - Tanmanjeet Singh Desi , Member of Parliament , UK reiterated his demand for memorial to be established in the memory of Sikh War Heroes in central London. In his address in the House of Commons ,he applauded the Indian war heroes of World War I. In his speech in the Centenary of the Armistice debate , Dhesi while recognizing and appreciating the role of men and women of all religions who had laid their lives in the wars demanded that a memorial to be established in the memory of Sikh War Heroes. Dhesi said " A real privilege to have been the part of the Centenary of the Armistice debate in Parliament , marking 100 years since the end of the World War I"
Dhesi said after hearing so many thoughtful and moving speeches he chose to focus on the contribution of all men and women of different faiths and backgrounds from all over the world. He said he highlighted the point of absence of recognition for some, including the lack of black and brown faces actors in the movies produced on the World War concept. He suggested to set up two statues of Turbaned Sikh soldiers as National Sikh War memorial campaign for Central London Statue.
It is to be mentioned Dhesi is MP from Slough constituency and he had started the campaign for a National Sikh War Memorial in Central London. In addition to it, Dhesi also congratulated the local communities for installing memorials all over the UK.
Dhesi also thanked the Labour Party Deputy Leader Tom Watson for supporting the National Sikh War Memorial Campaign.
