Amritsar, January 14, 2019: The management of Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, Amritsar in association with NGO Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) and Fly Amritsar Initiative celebrated Lohri by promoting plastic-free airport.
On the occasion, non-plastic fiber bags were distributed along with peanuts, chocolates inside the bags to passengers who were encouraged to use these re-usable bags.
The staff and management at the airport headed by Airport Director Manoj Chansoria made impressive arrangements for the celebrations. A team of Bhangra dancers entertained the passengers and others present. Staff members of the airlines also joined the celebrations by dancing to the Dhol beats.
AVM Patron and Member of the Airport Advisory Committee Manmohan Singh Brar thanked the Airport Director and Airport Authority of India for their efforts.
Yogesh Kamra, co-convener of Fly Amritsar Initiative and Additional Secretary AVM, said that in the financial year 2017-18, there was a record increase in the number of passengers at the airport. Another AVM Patron Dr. Charanjit Singh Gumtala along with member Daljit Singh Saini also participated in the event.
