Haryana writer’s Punjabi book wins 25000-dollar Dhahan International Punjabi Literary award
Vancouver, October 6, 2020: Haryana writer Kesra Ram’s short story book ‘Janani Paud’ has been declared winner of the highest International Punjabi Literary award of $25000 CDN of this year 2020. Born in Talwara Khurd village of Sirsa district of Haryana, writes in Punjabi despite that his mother tongue is not Punjabi.The book has been declared best Punjabi book in fiction.
The finalists declared are Harkirart Kaur Chahal (Canada) ‘s novel ‘Aadam Grehan’ and Lahore based writer Zubair Ahmad’s short story book ‘Paani di Kandh” written in Shahmukhi script. Both the finalists will be awarded with cash prize of $10000 CDN. This is the first time that any woman writer has been chosen for this award.
The awards were announced by the Dhahan Award Foundation at function held here today. The award was set up in 2014.
