Philosophy, Pain, Pride, and History to mark first day of Literati 2020 on Friday
Chandigarh, November 19, 2020: The three-day 8th edition of Chandigarh Literary Society’s annual lit fest, Literati 2020, goes live on Facebook and YouTube on Friday at 5:30 pm.
Literati had always been a regular feature at the Sukhna Lake Club with Shivalik hills in the backdrop, which would shift to the people’s homes now with virtual live streaming.
Ireland's ambassador to India Brendan Ward in his video message to the Chandigarh Literary Society expressed happiness for Ireland joining as a country partner in Literati and said that he looks forward to learning more from it with both countries enjoying a special bond especially the historic Irish rebellion that took place in Punjab a century ago.
After the inaugural address by CLS Chairperson, poet, and author Dr. Sumita Misra, the first plenary session shall feature a famous author and philosopher Gurcharan Das engaging in conversation with Indian Express resident editor Manraj Grewal in the session, ‘Moksha: A Secular Idea of Liberation’.
Gurcharan Das is a powerful speaker, a Harvard passed out, and known for his much-acclaimed books that focus on classical Indian thoughts about life expressed through his books, ‘India Unbound’ which is about ‘artha’, ‘The Difficulty of Being Good’ is all about ‘dharma’ and ethics, and ‘Kama: The Riddle of Desire’ about kama, with his latest book on ‘Moksha’ talks about letting go and finding liberation from chaos.
Another session on “To be Likeable and to Be Happy” is a session focused on the younger generation which would be moderated by author and motivational speaker Vivek Atray, with bestselling author of her debut book “Stoned, Shamed, Depressed- An Explosive Account of the Secret Lives of India’s Urban Teens”, Jyotsna Mohan Bhargava who provides a glimpse into the disturbing picture of modern-day school life in urban India, and joining her in the session would be leading television producer, author, a creative director working for shows on MTV, StarWorld and Netflix, Naomi Datta.
Well known Indian diplomat, prolific writer and author, Navtej Sarna and Indian-born Irish author Canvery Madhavan would be joining in a session “Tracing Footsteps” moderated by a columnist Col Avnish Sharma.
Bangalore-based novelist and a regular columnist, Amandeep Sandhu along with writer, podcaster, and commentator Sarabpreet Singh shall explore the “Pain & Pride: Punjab’s Journey Through the Years” with Dr. Rasikpriya Sandhu as the moderator.
Niharika Bhuwania shall be in conversation with another travel writer, prolific book reviewer with 700 reviews that won her place in Limca Book of Records, Anuradha Goyal shall share her experience in the session on “Incredible India!: Sacred Tales of Indian Temples”
