Chandigarh, November 09, 2016: On the eve of CLF 2016, which is to take place at Chandigarh Club, Sec 1, Chandigarh from October 10-13, Literature Across Frontier (LAF) Director, Alexandra Buchler held a press meet along-with Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Adab Foundation & Poetess Sampurna Chattarji. Adab Foundation is the Not for Profit Society which is organizing the Chandigarh Literature Festival(CLF 2016). Alexandra Büchler who is a well established translator and editor of numerous publications, has served on the board of the ‘Advocacy Network Culture Action Europe’ and of the ‘UK Translators’ Association’.
“A very interesting session ‘Polyphony’ – a poetry session with European poets is slated to take place in the evening of November 12 at 4:15 PM. In this, three European poets-Adrian Grima(Maltese), Yolanda Castano(Spanish/Galician), Brane Mozetic(Slovenian) & 3 Indian Poets- Surjit Patar(Punjabi), Monika Kumar(Hindi) & Sampurna Chattarji(English) will be seen in a multilingual poetry performance, the result of reading & translating each other at a Literature Across Frontiers Workshop.” Said Alexandra Buchler.
Mitul Dikshit, Chairman, Adab Foundation said, “We have designated two venues at Chandigarh Club. While Venue I will witness Conversation sessions of Critcs with authors & film directors, venue II will showcase some critically acclaimed films. Day 1’s highlight is the Lifetime Achievement award to well known Author Kiran Nagarkar at 4:45 PM. A very interesting panel discussion on the current topic of ‘Freedom & The Writer’ is planned. This will feature renowned writers like V K Karthika, Kiran Nagarkar, Meenal Baghel & Nayantara Sehgal.”
The media was informed about some very interesting sessions. Author Janice Pariat will be in conversation with critic Rahul Soni about her book ‘Sea Horse’. Meenal Baghel will be seen in conversation with Author Vibhuti Narayan Rai about his book ‘Hashimpura’. Another very thought provoking session will be of Festival Director Annie Zaidi’s conversation with author of "Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India" - Akshaya Mukul. It is noteworthy that Mukul had recently refused to share the stage with PM Modi at an award ceremony for his book ‘Gita Press & the making of Hindu India.’ Film Directors like Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Sudhir Mishra , Shoojit Sircar will be engaged in discussion about their films. The movie screening of "A Billion Colour Story" & conversation with Director N Padmakumar with critic Baradwaj Rangan is also being looked forward to by literature & art enthusiasts.
