Chandigarh, July 22, 2017: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore has emphasized the need for making development and growth process more inclusive. He is of the view that the benefits of development must reach the poor in general and those on the margins in particular.
“It with this spirit the NDA government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working today. From the day one, he has been focused about his goals with total clarity,” said Badnore during the launch of ‘Marching With A Billion,’ a book written by noted journalist Uday Mahurkar at the Raj Bhawan here on Friday evening.
The event had been organised by the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a Chandigarh-based think-tank headed by Dr Subhash Sharma, an economist. “Even as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he used to lay lot of emphasis on innovation and doing things in a different manner. Therefore, Gujarat model of development was lauded by all and sundry. Today he is implementing the model of Gujarat development at the national level,” he said, while lauding the efforts of Uday Mahurkar in coming out with a comprehensive analysis on the three years of NDA government.
He appreciated the CEPR for its efforts in organising a panel discussion on ‘Modinomics’ on the occasion. Dr Sharma, CEPR director, while initiating the discussion, said that ‘Sab Kaa Saath, Sa Kaa Vikas’ remained the key feature of the NDA government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He was of the view that there was hardly any area in which development was not taken place. “India has got the best government today, which will take the nation to the next level of development,” he said.
Mahurkar, in his interventions, highlighted how delivery of services and transparency were being ensured at every level of governance.
Retired Lt General K J Singh said that the process of defence procurement has been streamlined. “As a result, there was no delay procuring key artillery, which is important for any country’s defence line,” he said, adding that transparency is being ensured at every level of defence procurement. BJP leader Sanjay Tandon, former Punjab Minister Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema also spoke on the occasion.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh, former Punjab Minister Tikshan Sood, Chandigarh Mayor Asha Jaswal, Dinesh Sharma, General Secretary, BJP, Punjab and Chandigarh and several others.
