Ludhiana, October 08, 2017: The 39th Prof Mohan Singh Mela will be held at Punjabi Bhawan Ludhiana on October 20. Giving information the President of S. Jagdev Singh Jassowal Charitable Trust, Pargat Singh Grewal said that the mela deicated to S. Jagdev Singh Jassowal will be held under the patronage of S. Inderjit Singh Jassowal. A meeting was held today at the resistance of S. Jassowal to discuss the programme. Prominent among those who attended included Pargat Singh Grewal, Gurnam Dhaliwal, Dr Jagtar Dhiman ( Registrar , Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo), Dr Nirmal Jaura ( Director, Youth Affairs, Panjab University, Chandigarh), Rajiv Lovely, Amarinder Singh Jassowal, Harbhajan Rana, Bahal Aujla, Harbhajan Rana, Rana Chauhan, Varinderjit Sekhon and others.
The Mela will start by garlanding the statue of Prof Mohan Singh at Aarti Chowk at 9.30 am. The procession will reach Punjabi Bhawan where mela will be formally inaugurated by Dr Sardara Singh Johl followed by Literary seminar at 11 am. The seminar is to be arranged by Punjabi Sahitya Akademi. Papers on Prof Mohan Singh’s poems (Dr. Jaswinder Saini, Punjabi University), Contemporary relevance of Prof Mohan Singh’s poems (Prof Jagwinder Jodha), and Multi-pronged approach to address the revailing agrarian crisis in Punjab ( Dr Swaraj Singh USA) will be presented. Dr Johl will be the Chief Guest while Dr Sukhdev Sirsa will preside over and Surjit Singh will be the Session Convener.
At 2.00 pm there will be Kavi Darbar in which eminent poets will pay their poetic tributes to Prof Mohan Singh. The poetic session will be chaired by Dr Darshan Buttar and convened by Dr Lakhwinder Johl.
Pargat Singh Grewal said that the mela mela will have dhadi and kavishari darbar at 4.00 pm to be convened by Sandip Singh Rupalon. Later, at 5.00 pm Punjabi version of a kannad play "Icchhadhari" will be played at Virasat Bhawan on the Pakhowal Road under the direction of Jasbir Baroondi.The organizers have released the card of Prof Mohan Singh Mela and appealed to public to participate in the mela with family.
