Chandigarh, March 31, 2018: The Zenas Cure, Debut Novel of Simmy Kors was launched today in Chandigarh by Mr Vivek Atray, noted author- administrator from Tricity The book, already getting rave reviews across USA and middle east. The author of the book, 17 year old Simmy Kors, currently a student completing the 11th standard, never fails to credits her school for their support in her journey and learning, she says, “I study at The American School of Dubai, it’s honestly the best school, and believe me, I’m not being paid to say that. The fact is that all my teachers care much more about learning than memorizing, it sounds cheesy, but it’s true. Even though there were times I couldn’t demonstrate the lessons from these classes on the tests, I found other ways to apply what I learned.”
She further mentioned that the novel is gaining an incredible amount of attention in a rather short period of time. While reviewing the book, Abhinav Sharma opined Zenas Cure is a completely unique work of literature, one that has the potential to be as revolutionary as the beloved Harry Potter series. What readers find themselves particularly drawn to in the novel, is Kors’ imaginary world of Kedar. Kedar is what the young author claims to be the parallel universe of Earth that exists on the other side of the mirror. The basic concept of Kedar, is that every ‘kedarian’ is born with milk-white eyes, lacking an iris. For eyes, they simply have white orbs, but at the age of five, a kedarian develops their eye colour depending on their leading personality characteristics and depending on the Iris Division they fall in, they gain.
Simmy Kors while discussing about her book said, “I didn’t expect people to invest so much into the novel. I often get messages from readers about theories regarding the realm of Kedar, some concepts that even I never thought of. It’s actually really cool and I’m very lucky to have such an interesting audience who is as invested in my work as I am. They’re cool people.” When asked, why she chose sci-fi as the genre of the book, she replied - I chose to write a sci fi fantasy novel because in fantasy anything can and will happen. You can always create more and more, there is no limit to the creativity
Simmy Kors mentioned her mother, Shweta Bajwa, a doctor, based in Dubai, as a constant source of support and encouragement while writing the book
Talking about the book in brief, she said The realm of Kedar is beautifully created and has readers immersed and completely invested in this plausible world. The realm has its own language known as Crooken, it has its own peculiar rules, such as the color of the sky is dependent on which Iris Division is in power. It has it’s own government system, logic, mannerisms, culture, it truly is a world of its own. However, what truly puts Simmy Kors’ debut novel apart from the rest, is the logic behind the fantasy. Simmy Kors uses facts and science to back up the powers of kedarians
Simmy Kors while praising her school said “If it wasn’t for The American School of Dubai and my teachers, The Zenas Cure wouldn’t be what it is today. I have to give credit where it’s due. I am what I am because of their unconditional faith in me. I’ll always be grateful for that”
The characters are truly magnificent and unrealistically realistic as if the novel was based off real people, but Simmy Kors reassures that “All the characters are completely fictional, some traits are based off me, but that’s really it.” Kors recalls, “When people approach me about my book, I often ask them who was their favourite character. I never know what to expect, the answer is always completely different.”
Despite the intense plot. Kors is known for her sense of humour, which shows greatly throughout the book. While discussing about the book, Mr Vivek Atraysaid The Zenas Cure can fall into so many different genres, which makes it the perfect book to read whether you are a first time reader or book enthusiast. The Zenas Cure has something for everybody.
The novel is available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Kindle, and other major retailers. Simmy Kors eventually decided to self-publish, claiming, “Traditional publishers, I feel often overprice the book for the readers, and I’m not looking to make money. It’s more about my relationship with the readers and sharing the story and world of Kedar with those who care about The Zenas Cure just as much as I doI’m also keen on keeping creative control over the book. Self-publishing has a stigma to it, but honestly, I couldn’t care less, at least I’m not a sellout.”
