- Keynote speaker Jagwant Singh called for united fight against the privatization and challanges due to New Education Policy
Ludhiana, December 22, 2019 - The auditorium hall of the Extension Library of Punjab University Chandigarh, a day-long discussion on the challenges faced by higher education and issues of 1925 Teachers College Front were discussed. dr. Jagwant said there is need to fight against bad practices of privatization for the golden future of the younger generation and challanges of implementation of New Education Policy. Jagwant Singh (General Secretary of Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organization) said that the foundation of the strength of any educational system is the teacher, but governments of the time are constantly making new conspiracies to weaken the teachers in every aspect of their privatization policies. He particularly emphasized the need to focus on strengthening higher education to maintain the state's economy and socio-cultural prosperity, noting that there has been a steady increase of regular teachers in colleges over the last decade and a half.
In the field of higher education, especially in the field of higher education, the 136 aided colleges of Punjab are very important as these are the young people being integrated into the education system. He further stated that under the influence of the World Bank, governments are not serious about giving grants to aided colleges.
The government's efforts lack far-reaching policies and rules are largely ignored because we have failed to monitor the system.
He said that under the National Education Policy, the central government was imposing a lot on us. He said that under the new higher education policy the issues of self-reliance, teacher norms, contract jobs etc. are being promoted by the government.
He appreciated the significant contribution of aided colleges in higher education and said that these colleges are making a major contribution in providing constructive guidance to the youth. He said that these colleges faced major challenges at the UGC level, at the principal level, at the college management level.
He said that the financial condition of the government is very pathetic but the problems of the government will not affect the process of regularization of the posts of these colleges.
