Industrialists breathe a sigh of relief after removal of the impasse in train operations- Pawan Dewan
Passengers, farmers, and industries all to be benefited
SAS Nagar, November 24, 2020 : Indian Railways has restored rail services for Punjab after the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s personal efforts in this issue. This was stated by Pawan Dewan Chairman, Punjab Large Scale Industries Development Board(PLIDB).
In a statement issued here today, Diwan said that as the farmers agreed to lift blockade in state after Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder’s appeal, Industrialists of the state have breathed a sign of relief.
He said that the suspension of rail services due to the outbreak of pandemic and thereafter blockade of rail tracks by farmers has hit the industry hard. He said the Industries was already reeling under losses due COVID including labour shortage and the suspension of rail movement came as a bolt from blue. He said that worry of raw material shortage, failure to meet supply deadlines purchasing material at ‘premium prices’ or increase in costs due to transporting via roadways was looming large in the minds of industrialists.
Diwan said that the farmers in Punjab have been carrying out their protest on railway tracks since long which has disrupted both passenger and goods train service in the region. Now, as per recent developments, the rail agitation has been lifted which will subsequently be beneficial for all including passengers, farmers and industries.
He thanked Punjab Government, Indian Railways and especially the Farmer Unions and Chief Ministers as farmers have postponed the blockade in the larger interest of the community.
