Ludhiana : Rs. 100 crore GST fraud, one arrested
Ludhiana, September 23, 2022:
Central GST Ludhiana Commissionerate disclosed one persons have been arrested in GST fraud case of more than Rs. 100 crore.
Statement released in this regard by CGST Ludhiana Commissionerate said that during the course of investigation in the case of Yashpal Mehta, Gurbax Lal and accomplices wherein the total GST fraud involved is more than Rs. 100 Crore, a key accused namely Ram alias Raman Chaggar was arrested by GST department on 21.09.2022. Ram alias Raman Chaggar is related to Yashpal Mehta.
Statement also said that earlier on 12.08.2022 a search was also conducted at Yashpal Mehta’s residential premises. At that time the visiting GST officers were attacked by him and his family for which an FIR has been lodged by the officers against the anti-social elements.
A search was conducted on 20.09.2022 at the residential premises of Ram alias Raman Chaggar S/o Harpal Singh, Proprietor of M/s R.A. Enterprises and Partner of M/s A. R. International who was repeatedly evading summons. After being confronted with corroboratory evidence, Ram alias Raman Chaggar stated that there was no movement of goods in M/s R.A. Enterprises and M/s A. R. International and these firms were created only to avail and pass on ITC fraudulently on the strength of bogus invoices in connivance with Yashpal Mehta. The ITC thus availed and passed fraudulently on by these two firms is about Rs. 6.3 Crore.
Further Ram alias Raman Chaggar helped and abetted in fraudulent availment and passing on of fraudulent ITC to the tune of about Rs. 6 Crore by five other firms. Ram alias Raman Chaggar stated to have thus defrauded the Govt. exchequer to the tune of about Rs. 12 Crore.
Thus, based on evidences gathered and statement of Ram alias Raman Chaggar, he was placed under arrest on 21.09.2022 and was produced before the magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody upto 04.10.2022. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
