New Delhi, August 11, 2025 – The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has formally notified the introduction of an Annual FASTag Pass for non-commercial vehicles, effective from August 15, 2025.
According to a Gazette notification, the scheme applies to non-commercial cars, jeeps, and vans. Under the new provision, vehicle owners can pay ₹3,000 for 200 fee plaza crossings or one year of validity, whichever comes earlier. The amount will be revised annually on April 1 as per Rule 5 of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
The amendment, which inserts sub-rule 3(B) under Rule 9, mandates that the facility be made operational at all National Highway and Expressway toll plazas across India.
The government has also clarified that the change will be treated as a “Change in Law” for contractual implications in BOT (Toll), TOT, and InvIT projects whose bid due dates were before June 17, 2025.
Authorities, including NHAI, NHIDCL, Border Roads Organisation, and State PWDs, have been directed to ensure timely implementation in coordination with IHMCL.
