The webinar progressed with the wise and farsighted words of Dr. Simran Sidhu, Head, department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Doaba College, Jalandhar who stated that the journalists have become commentators as they just explain the ‘scene’ and not at all dive deep into the interpretation of the same.
Dr. A. S. Narang, Professor, Political Science and former co-ordinator, Human Rights Education, IGNOU emphasised on the casual approach of the journalists as ‘it is not easy for journalists to say what is not to be said and not to say what is to be said’.
Chitleen Kaur Sethi, Associate Editor, The Print remarked that every person who carries a mobie phone in his hand is actually a potential journalist. S. Harpreet Singh, TV Anchor of The Hapreet Singh Show, Canada surmised by saying that the youth of the nation is tech-savvy and they must be shown the right path in the form of introducing shot term courses related to journalism so that their energy and talent can be used progressively.
Dr Arvinder Singh, college Principal, expressed a heart-felt gratitude to all the eminent speakers, and the audience. He said that the department has always strived to walk an extra mile to emphasise the pivotal role of Journalism in spreading the right information.
