DBS students display ‘Crop Water Calculator’ at NCS Congress held at SBS University
Ferozepur, December 8, 2021: A team of eight students of Dass and Brown School, invented ‘Crop Water Calculator’ named as Aquaragna invented at National Children Science Congress-2021 which has been selected at district level competition and now this project will be a part of state level competitions.
The device has been developed to assist with planning water supplies on farm. It can also be used to determine how much water is used on the property and determine how long the water will last on the property and how farm water supplies cope under different rainfall scenarios.
Principal Preet Kiran informed that National Children Science Congress 2021 was organized at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, in which 8 students of the school presented their projects in different categories. A device has been made by the students to calculate the water given to crops in agriculture, which was decorated in the exhibition and it is named as ‘Aquaragna’.
Umesh Bajaj, mentor of Atal Tinkering Lab, said that before making this project, the students interacted with hundreds of farmers.
He said that in this competition, Angelina Chauhan of class VI, Divyam Dhawan of class VII, Priyanshu Gupta of class VIII, Akshita of IX, Jhanvi Singh, Piyush Kumar, Manavjot Singh and Jasmine Nigha of Gairhavi participated.
Deputy Principal Anoop Sharma informed that Atal Tinkering Lab has been established in the school by NITI Aayog, in which students work on research to solve social problems. He said that in Covid-19, a robot was prepared by the students and the mentor of the school, which used to go to the Covid affected areas and clean the germs through laser light.
