PAU inks with Mumbai-based company for Biogas Plant
Ludhiana, March 29, 2023: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has inked a pact with Spectron Engineers Private Limited, Andheri (W), Mumbai for commercialization of Modified PAU fixed Dome Type Janta Model Biogas Plant, having a capacity of 25 m3/day to 500 m3/day technology and designed and developed under the Scheme “All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Energy in Agriculture and Agro-based Industries (AICRP on EAAI)” funded by ICAR.
Dr. AS Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU and a representative of Mumbai based company signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on behalf of their organizations.
As per the agreement, the University offers non-exclusive rights to the company for making Modified PAU fixed Dome Type Janta Model Biogas Plant, having capacity from 25 m3/day to 500 m3/day within India.
Dr Gurjit Singh Mangat, Additional Director of Research (Crop Improvement), congratulated Dr Rajan Aggarwal, Head, Department of Renewable Energy Engineering and Dr Sarbjit Singh Sooch, Principal Scientist, the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering, for the commercialization of this technology.
Dr Aggarwal said that the technology helped in the cleanliness of rural areas and production of green energy.
Giving details, Dr Sooch explained that the construction of this type of plant was easy and it was an all-brick masonry structure. This design was suitable for all regions of the country.
The cost of this plant was 60 – 70 percent as compared to the cost of other conventional model biogas plant (floating drum biogas plants) and the maintenance requirements of this plant was far lesser than the floating drum biogas plants, he said.
Dr. Usha Nara, Plant Breeder, TMIPRC, informed that PAU has signed a total of 318 MoAs and commercialized 77 technologies.
She also added that 15 MoAs of Modified PAU fixed Dome Type Janta Model Biogas Plant, having capacity from 25 m3/day to 500 m3/day have been signed with different companies and firms.
