Community Solar Charging Station set up in CGC Landran

Chandigarh, September 18, 2023: A fully functional Community Solar Charging Station & Social Enterprise Resource Centre has been set up at CGC Landran.
The facility is an initiative of CEC, CGC Landran and is part of a project approved by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) Government of India, to facilitate economic growth and social empowerment of underprivileged rural communities by creating sustainable employment opportunities fuelled by clean energy resources.
It will provide them with convenient access to free of cost charging of e-rickshaws owned by rural vendors as also of solar-powered sewing machines, used by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in villages.
This Solar Charging Station has multiple charging ports which will allow several e-rickshaws, to get charged, simultaneously, for free.
It will also address the energy requirements of solar-powered sewing machines which are being extensively used by SHGs for imparting skill development training to rural women in stitching, tailoring, thus enabling them to become economically independent and empowered.
Similar multipurpose facilities are being planned to be set up in two more villages with the one in village Sawara, being in the completion phase.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, Sarpanches from Maujpur, Bhagomajra, Bairampur, Majat, Mr. Kuldeep Singh G3S Solar Energy, and esteemed members of women SHGs from these villages.
