SPECTRUM 2.0 inaugurates with grand ceremony at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 15th April 2024: The Art and Photography Club of Punjab Engineering College (deemed to be a University), Chandigarh, marked the commencement of its highly anticipated annual flagship event, SPECTRUM 2.0, on 13th-14th April 2024, with an enthusiastic inauguration ceremony.
The event took place in the presence of esteemed guests, including the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Prajapati, Associate Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Puneet Arora, and the Officer in charge of APC, Prof. Prabhsimran Bindra.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional Lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the enlightenment and auspicious beginning of the event, led by the distinguished guests and organizers.
Following this, Dr. Prajapati shared words of wisdom, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the Art and Photography Club in bringing the event to fruition.
During the ceremony, the theme for the Round 2 art competition was unveiled as "ALTERVERSE", while the theme for the photography competition was revealed as "Product Photography" for Harley Davidson and Torque Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Prajapati emphasized the significance of such prestigious events and the chosen themes, encouraging participants to embrace friendly competition and artistic expression.
Dr. Puneet Arora, in her inspiring address, shared motivational anecdotes, including the timeless tale of 'The Last Leaf' by O'Henry. She congratulated theorganizers and committee members for their efforts in organizing the event seamlessly. Aryan Raj Vaidya, the convener of the event, delivered an engaging speech, providing participants with insights into the structure, rules, and guidelines of the competition.
The ceremony concluded with best wishes from all esteemed guests and conveners, declaring the event officially open.
Diya Sharma, a well-known artist and the secretary of APC for the year 2021-22, felt so happy and honored to be the judge for round 2, expressing her gratitude to the organizers.
The second day of SPECTRUM 2024 witnessed overwhelming participation from both Punjab Engineering College (PEC) and external participants, culminating in a mesmerizing display of creativity and skill. The theme for the third and final round of the Art competition was unveiled as 'Indian Art Forms', while the Photography competition focused on 'Product Photography' for Harley Davidson.
Over the course of a five-hour round, artists showcased their exceptional talent, expressing their views onto canvases with vibrant colors and intricate details.Following a meticulous hour of judgment by esteemed panelists, including Dr. Pooja Sharma (Professor, Fine Art, MCM), Bheem Malhotra (Chairperson, Lalit Kala Art Academy), and Parminder Singh (Photography Influencer and Role-model), winners were announced. The event culminated in an exhibition held in the lawns of the Administration block, where paintings from Spectrum 2024 and 2023 were showcased.
The exhibition was graced by the presence of Director, PEC, Prof. Dr. Baldev Setia, Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. DR Prajapati, Associate Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Puneet Chawla, and the Officer In charge of APC, Dr. Parbhsimran Bindra and the conveners of the event Aryan Raj Vaidya and Aditi. The artists had the opportunity to explain their artworks to the dignitaries, receiving praise from the Director, PEC, for their exceptional work.
The valedictory session of SPECTRUM 2024 was conjoined with Techdroit 2024 in the Senate hall, attended by participants and organizers of both events. The prize distribution ceremony felicitated winners from both art and photography competitions.
Dr. Jyoti Kedia, Associate Dean of Students Affairs, Technical Societies, presented the vote of thanks, followed by an anecdote by the Director, PEC, who officially brought the events to a close, encouraging artists and coders to continue showcasing their skills through such events.
