IIT Ropar and IIT Tirupati collaborates to organize Water and GIS Deeptech Summit in New Delhi

New Delhi, May 6, 2024: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar's AWaDH (Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub) in collaboration with IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation under the framework of National Mission on Interdiosciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India successfully hosted its inaugural event : Water and GIS Deeptech Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing together key stakeholders in the deep-tech, sustainability and government technology sectors.
The event aimed to showcase AWaDH's initiatives, announce exciting new programs, and spark collaboration for a more sustainable future like the Water Innovation Challenge in collaboration with HDFC Parivartan.
The Deeptech Summit was inaugurated with dignitaries like Dr. Akhilesh Gupta Senior Advisor at the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India; Dr Anita Gupta, Department of Science and Technology; Dr. Ekta Kapoor Mission Director, NMICPS, Government of India; Jeet Vijay, CEO, Meity Startup Hub; Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Director General, Bharat 6G Alliance; Dr. Pushpendra Pal Singh, Project Director AWaDH; Dr Roshan Srivastav, Project Director, IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation for the power packed inauguration of WATER & GIS Deeptech summit.
The apex of the event was marked by the Chief Guest address by Dr. Akhilesh Gupta The address not only highlighted the event's significance but also emphasised the shared dedication to fostering innovation and progress across the nation.
In a dynamic showcase of innovation and entrepreneurship, Mukesh Kestwal, the esteemed Chief Innovation Officer of iHub-AWaDH, unveiled a glimpse into the Water Innovation Challenge, showcasing AWaDH's relentless pursuit of pioneering solutions to the world's most pressing water-related issues.
The event showcased a series of transformative launches and announcements, spearheading a movement towards sustainable innovation and collaboration in the fields of technology and water management.
Highlights included the unveiling of the Sustainability Accelerator Program, led by Mayuresh Raut of Seafund and Amit Gupta of Factoryal, aimed at propelling environmentally conscious ventures forward.
Other notable initiatives unveiled included the National Institute of Technology Delhi – IIT Ropar iHub AWaDH CPS Skilling Initiative, the VIKAS Initiative by IIT Tirupati, and the SWACH Accelerator Initiative in collaboration with Innovation Mission Punjab and FICCI’S Indian Sanitation Coalition Roadshow, collectively reaffirming AWaDH's role as a catalyst for impactful change on a regional and national scale.
The award ceremony showcased the remarkable achievements of pioneering ventures dedicated to tackling water-related challenges with ingenuity and innovation.
Standing out among the distinguished winners is Amrit Om Nayak, Co- Founder, Inphlox Water Systems Private Limited; Shrilesh Rajendra Mande, Founder, Industill Farmtech Private Limited; Priyanshu Kumath, Founder, Sustainable Water Technologies Pvt Ltd; Shobana U, Co-Founder, Innogle Technologies Pvt Ltd; Sridhar Kotra, Founder, Agri Matrix India Pvt Ltd.
In continuation with the event's momentum, a captivating panel discussion titled "Navigating DeepTech Ecosystem in Sustainable & Govt Tech Ecosystem" took place. It featured prominent figures like Dr. Neelima Alam, Department of Science and Technology; Dr. Hafsa Ahmad, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser Government of India; Dr. Vibhuti Aggarwal, Real-Time Angel Fund; Mr. Mudit Narain, Blume Ventures; Dr. Subash Nataraja Pillai, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, and Mr. Manish Verma, AngelBlue Holdings Pvt Ltd.
The event culminated with a groundbreaking GIS SMART Startup Announcement by a collaborative team from IIT Ropar and IIT Tirupati. This exciting reveal was followed by closing remarks from the esteemed Dr. Pushpendra Pal Singh, Project Director, IIT Ropar AWaDH, leaving attendees eager to learn more. A heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Roshan Shrivastava, Project Director, IIT Tirupati Navishkar I-Hub Foundation capped off the successful event.
