Expert talk on Quantum Computing in Engineering organised by CGC Landran

Mohali, October 24, 2024: Aimed at introducing its students and faculty to the transformative potential of quantum technology in engineering, the Department of Applied Sciences, CEC-CGC Landran, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized an expert talk on ‘Quantum Computing in Engineering: A Revolutionary Impact.’ More than 150 participants attended the session which was conducted by Dr. Raj Kumar, Associate Professor, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.
Giving a comprehensive overview of fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, including superposition and entanglement, which serve as the foundation for quantum computing, he also explained how quantum algorithms like Shor’s and Grover’s could revolutionize cryptography, optimization, and artificial intelligence.
In addition to this, real-world applications in material science, data analysis, and complex problem-solving were also discussed with Dr. Raj Kumar highlighting the future role of quantum computing in overcoming current engineering challenges.
The session offered the participants a valuable opportunity deepen their understanding of how Quantum computing is reshaping the future of modern engineering.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, followed by the felicitation of the expert speaker by Prof. (Dr.) Harpal Singh, HoD, Department of Applied Sciences, CEC-CGC Landran.
